A level 80 Necros thoughts…

Let me first say I started out as a re-animation build and found it was very difficult to kill things, so about level 50 I switched over to Nightfall and liked it. It was finally pretty easy to solo 2 mobs at a time and I was a bit happier. Once I hit 70 I switched back to reanimation for corpse explosion and haven’t respec’d again yet, though I want to try an ice build (seems the best pvp build?).
Very, *very* nice pets.
Again, like these pets to. Don’t see very good stamina/mana warhammer gold drains though, unless I use the Void spell, which I shouldnt have to, it should augment it.
Frost Blast.
Was good until they nerfed recast. 45 seconds? Seriously? Why… it’s not even that good in pvp, all I used it for was killing mobs.
Sadly, that’s about all I can think of that are actually worth having as a necro.
There are many things that I would consider bad about our class, many spells that don’t seem to have a function or work properly.
Basically in PvE we seem to be fine, at level 80 my archmage pets are amazing at killing mobs. In PvP however, things need some drastic changes I think.
Corpse Explosion.
Geild Bones.
Description makes it sound like a great spell. Extremely hard to get people frozen with it though. It works 70% of the time on mobs, never seen it in pvp. Perhaps the 10 degree angle could be pushed out to 30-45?
Some things that are nice about our class:
Wow, 5 damage, *and* you have to put feat points into it, just so you can actually snare people. This is probably one of the most silly things I have ever seen. It should automatically be part of the spell and those feats should be changed to something useful.

Now on to the bad part…
Nice spell, wish range was better (maybe feat to increase range? or have general tree include this spell?)
We have two different ones to choose from, which is nice, although the “unimaginable terror” does not always work, the one that sacrifices a pet is usually a good way to stop people from hitting you.

Hope the spell breakdown helped a bit. I’ll answer any questions as well as I’ve probably left massive stuff out and haven’t really given a breakdown of feats yet either.
Unholy hands.
I recently reached level 80, and I have to say I am fairly disappointed with this class. I fear I am probably the weakest class in the game at level 80 currently, with the over-powered healers, insane HoX’s and barbarians and the never dying tank classes.
Also without breaking any NDA I can tell you that I may or may not have experienced playing a *very* high level demonologist in beta, or a very high level bear shaman. I have also pvp’d quite a bit, with about 450 kills and deaths in pvp total. So for the most part I have a good understanding of our class and others as well.
I heard that our class (as well as Demos) were being reviewed by developers and (hopefully) having changes made to them. This is why I am posting now; to give some opinions from a level 80s perspective that they may have not already have received.
Fear.
It’s nice that the spell is affected by range-enhancing feats in warhammer gold the general tree, but I wish the damage was about doubled, since I only do about 145 to each person (not quite good enough to finish people off). Instant cast would be nice too but 0.5 is ok I guess.
Parasitic soul swarm (sp).
Blasphemous Ruin.
I realize this may sound like whining, and for the most part it is. I, however, would like to see some massive improvements on our class in the future, or I may just re-roll now, I haven’t decided.

I *love* this spell. Especially when grind groups in keshatta have just finished killing a large group of mobs, I can usually kill 3-4 of their party easily (with Tome of Erlik of course). Recent nerf made this a minute cooldown, which is fine, I can see why
